A Missionary Teachers’ Award Program

10/01/2007

Unless you have experienced the sudden, unexpected death of a loved one, it is impossible to imagine the pain and the loss. How does one cope?

This spring, WaterStone began working with a missionary teacher whose spouse had suffered severe injury and ultimately death as a result of an automobile accident in Eastern Europe.

To honor and remember her husband who had spent a lifetime teaching on the mission field, she envisioned a missionary teachers’ award program in his name and funded by those who knew and loved him best. WaterStone eagerly agreed, desiring to help her achieve her passion while meeting the regulatory requirements for charitable activity.

Although the program is still young, four recipients were recently chosen for awards. Winners were selected from applications submitted by Christian teachers going this fall to an overseas mission field with a U.S. non profit organization.

As one applicant shared regarding the teaching opportunity God has given her in Vienna, “…the teachers have an absolutely amazing window of opportunity to impact these (non-Christian) students’ lives for eternity as they weave life-changing Bible truths and the hope of redemption through Christ into the subject matter of each classroom.”

Although one man’s life was cut short, WaterStone is enabling his legacy of spreading the Gospel as a Christian teacher to continue through others around the world.
